West Midlands Police have implemented the Voice Connect Relay system, which is a way of keeping you in touch with ongoing events and issues in Birmingham city centre, for example security alerts. I susbscribed to the service a few weeks ago and it works - today, I received information via phone and email regarding the evacuation of New Street Station. (It turned out to be a false alarm.)
