Some other year, there may have been, but that isn't applicable to me because I wasn't the candidate any other year.

You made the comment against me around the time of this year's election. For me to assume that you referring to another year's election, when I wasn't the candidate, would have required the power to read your mind.Peter Smallbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01086594327838855820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21545382.post-1147624595755895312006-05-14T17:36:00.000+01:002006-05-14T17:36:00.000+01:00If you don't accept everything I've said, you're f...If you don't accept everything I've said, you're free to put up some counter-argments (if you can think of any!)

So you were referring to another candidate from some other year..? Well, 'scuse me for not reading your mind..!Peter Smallbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01086594327838855820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21545382.post-1147190903036610852006-05-09T17:08:00.000+01:002006-05-09T17:08:00.000+01:00First of all, you haven't argued against any of th...First of all, you haven't argued against any of the points I raised in my previous comment, so I'm assuming you accept them - great.

There was no female Labour candidate this year - Carl Rice was the labour candidate, and he lives in Harborne. You've got your facts wrong.Peter Smallbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01086594327838855820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21545382.post-1146920115618201602006-05-06T13:55:00.000+01:002006-05-06T13:55:00.000+01:00It's been some time since a Conservative candidate...It's been some time since a Conservative candidate finished second in Ladywood. When I was selected three months ago, we were languishing in third and going nowhere. Three months later, we're easily second. There are twelve months to go until the next election so anything's possible.

I was the only candidate who lived in Ladywood ward, and I dare say this will be the case at the next election. Local issues are what I'm about, which is why I stood here.

You don't give any reasons to vote Labour, but I'll give reasons both not to vote Labour, and also to vote Conservative.

At a national level, the Labour govenment is in freefall. Yesterday's cabinet reshuffle, hastily brought forward from next week, is the last gasp of a broken and exhausted administration. The lid has clearly been blown off the whole New Labour project, showing them up as a moneyed elite who think that they know best how to run people's lives. Blair has progressively sacked his ablest ministers for reasons of image and political in-fighting.

At a local level, the Conservative-led administration inherited a desperate sitation, with chaotic housing and social services. We're turning the situation round, gaining Audit Commission stars in these two areas for the first time ever. Just as importantly, we're not hitting the pockets of the hard-working people of Birmingham - this year's Council Tax has the smallest increase for a long time.Peter Smallbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01086594327838855820noreply@blogger.com
